Whether you require temporary support, full-time assistance, or anything in between, our team is here to help. We offer flexible services that include quick check-in calls and shorter visits, which increase in 15-minute intervals, as well as full live-in care for those who need round-the-clock support. We also provide overnight care, designed to offer peace of mind for individuals needing extra support during the night without requiring 24-hour service.

We specialize in helping individuals with chronic conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease, along with those recovering from surgery or injury. For clients and families facing end-of-life challenges, our compassionate team ensures that loved ones can spend their final days at home with dignity. We also support individuals whose families live far away, giving reassurance that someone checks in regularly to ensure their well-being.

Our highly trained carers assist clients with diverse needs, including personal care, medication management, mobility support, and companionship. They handle various circumstances with professionalism, empathy, and respect. At SilverBirch Healthcare, we understand that every person’s situation is unique, so we collaborate closely with you and your loved ones to create a customized care plan tailored to your preferences and needs. Our mission is to provide care that enhances your quality of life, supports your independence, and brings comfort and confidence to both you and your family.

How Care Works

At SilverBirch Healthcare, we strive to make the process of arranging care as smooth and supportive as possible. It all begins with your enquiry—whether you contact us by phone, email, or through our website. After we discuss your needs, we will arrange a free assessment at a time that suits you. This no-obligation visit allows us to explore your situation, provide helpful advice, and suggest adjustments you can make in your home to improve safety and comfort. If you’re unsure whether you need care, this step can be invaluable in helping you make an informed decision.

If you decide to proceed with care, we will work closely with you to agree on the start date and discuss the best times for visits. SilverBirch Healthcare stands out as one of the few care companies that guarantees set visit times, allowing for a 15-minute window on either side to account for potential traffic or roadworks. If a carer experiences a delay longer than 15 minutes, we will call you to keep you informed.

Once care begins, our commitment to your satisfaction continues. We conduct a one-week check-in to ensure everything runs smoothly, followed by a full review after one month. Additional reviews take place at the three-month and six-month marks, with regular six-monthly reviews thereafter. However, we remain ready to revisit your care plan sooner if your circumstances change or if you feel adjustments are necessary.

At SilverBirch Healthcare, we dedicate ourselves to delivering not just exceptional care but also the peace of mind that comes from knowing you or your loved ones receive support every step of the way.

Dehydration

Dehydration often concerns loved ones, especially among older adults or those with certain health conditions, but effective ways exist to address it. At SilverBirch Healthcare, we actively help by monitoring daily fluid intake and making dietary changes that encourage hydration. We incorporate foods with high water content, such as soups, yogurt, watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges, into meals. We also ensure that drinks like water, herbal teas, and diluted fruit juices remain readily available and encouraged throughout the day.

Additionally, we collaborate with Jelly Drops, an innovative company providing a unique and engaging solution to hydration challenges. Jelly Drops are bite-sized, sugar-free water gels that are easy to handle and appealing to eat, especially for individuals who may struggle to drink enough fluids due to mobility or cognitive difficulties. Designed with input from dementia caregivers, they make staying hydrated more enjoyable and manageable.

By partnering with companies like Jelly Drops and tailoring care to meet individual needs, SilverBirch Healthcare ensures your loved ones stay hydrated, healthy, and comfortable. For more information about Jelly Drops, please click here.

Monitored Dosage Systems

Managing medications presents a complex challenge for elderly individuals, particularly those with memory issues or multiple prescriptions. Tools like blister packs and monitored dosage systems (MDS) simplify this process and enhance safety. Pharmacies prepare blister packs, organizing medications into clearly labelled compartments for specific days and times. SilverBirch Healthcare carers administer medications only from these systems, ensuring strict adherence to regulations. While our carers can hand family-filled organizers to clients, they can also provide reminders and encouragement to help clients stay on track.

For individuals with memory difficulties, advanced electronic MDS offers additional benefits. These systems release the correct dose at the scheduled time, with compartments that only become accessible when needed. They also emit an alert sound to remind users to take their medication, significantly reducing the risk of missed or incorrect doses. Although SilverBirch Healthcare carers cannot administer medication directly from these systems, we support clients by encouraging their use, monitoring adherence, and keeping families informed of any concerns.

Blister packs and other MDS systems also facilitate tracking medication levels and identifying missed doses, allowing for timely refills and adjustments. By incorporating these tools into our care routines, we help clients maintain independence while offering families peace of mind. At SilverBirch Healthcare, our carers dedicate themselves to supporting safe, consistent, and personalized medication management for every individual.

Locked Boxes for Medication

Locked medication boxes ensure the safety of elderly individuals, especially those with memory issues or cognitive impairments. For those with dementia or Alzheimer’s, the risk of accidental misuse is high. These boxes securely store medications and allow access only to authorized caregivers through a key or code. This security reduces the chances of overdosing and confusion, offering peace of mind for families.

They also help those with a history of substance abuse by limiting access to medications and promoting responsible use. By ensuring medications are taken at scheduled times, these boxes support better health management.

At SilverBirch Healthcare, we advocate for locked medication boxes in personalized care plans. Our carers access them correctly and administer medications on time. They provide reminders and monitor usage to ensure adherence, helping clients stay safe and independent while reassuring families.

Cameras for Falls

Installing security cameras inside and outside the home enhances the safety and well-being of elderly individuals, especially those at high risk of falling or needing extra security support. Exterior cameras deter intruders and provide peace of mind for families, knowing their loved ones' homes are monitored 24/7. Whether it's a front door camera or motion-activated cameras around the yard, these devices help record anyone approaching the property.

Inside the home, placing cameras in key areas like hallways and near stairs effectively monitors high-risk fall zones. Stairs and narrow hallways can be hazardous for those with limited mobility or balance issues. These cameras allow caregivers or family members to observe movements and respond quickly to falls or accidents, even when they are not present.

At SilverBirch Healthcare, we promote the respectful use of cameras to maintain privacy while ensuring safety. We emphasize family and client consent before installation to ensure comfort with their use. Thoughtfully placed cameras enhance the overall care plan, giving families confidence that their loved ones are protected from security threats and physical risks.

Sara Steady

The Sara Steady is an innovative device designed to help individuals with low mobility transition safely from sitting to standing. This equipment is especially useful for elderly individuals or those facing mobility challenges. The Sara Steady offers essential support, enabling users to rise and sit with minimal strain, reducing fall risks and promoting independence. Its sturdy frame, ergonomic handles, and supportive seat help maintain proper posture while standing.

At SilverBirch Healthcare, we integrate the Sara Steady into our care plans for clients with limited mobility. It benefits those who struggle to stand due to weakness, arthritis, or neurological conditions. The device provides a safe and controlled way to stand, easing the physical strain on both users and caregivers. It moves smoothly with the user, ensuring comfort and safety while avoiding sudden jerks or falls.

The Sara Steady not only enhances safety but also fosters independence. By using this device, individuals can engage in daily activities more easily, improving their well-being and boosting confidence. At SilverBirch Healthcare, we train our carers to ensure safe use of the Sara Steady, helping clients maintain a dignified and active lifestyle.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs serve as essential tools for individuals with mobility challenges, promoting independence and enhancing quality of life. Both electric and manual wheelchairs enable users to move freely, engage with their communities, and enjoy activities outside their homes. Electric wheelchairs offer enhanced independence, allowing individuals with limited strength or stamina to navigate their surroundings effortlessly. These chairs feature easy-to-use controls and adjustable settings, making it simple to visit local shops or parks.

Manual wheelchairs also provide significant benefits. Many models are lightweight and foldable, which makes them easy to transport and store. They are ideal for individuals who can propel themselves but may need assistance over longer distances. The foldable design allows families and caregivers to take the wheelchair along for outings to shopping centers or day centers. SilverBirch Healthcare carers assist clients during these outings, ensuring comfort and safety.

Wheelchairs enable individuals to attend family events, such as celebrations or reunions. This involvement helps maintain social connections and reduces feelings of isolation. At SilverBirch Healthcare, our trained carers support clients in using wheelchairs safely, promoting an active lifestyle while ensuring the highest level of care and independence.

Profile Beds

Profile beds are highly beneficial for elderly individuals, providing safety, comfort, and improved mobility for those who struggle to get in and out of bed or spend long periods in bed due to health issues. These adjustable beds allow users to raise or lower the head, legs, and overall height, helping them find a comfortable resting position and making it easier for caregivers to assist with personal care tasks. For individuals with limited mobility or those recovering from surgery, profile beds simplify daily life and reduce the risk of injury.

A key advantage of profile beds is that they promote independence. Adjusting the bed height enables individuals to get in and out safely, reducing reliance on caregivers. The adjustable positions enhance circulation, lower the risk of pressure sores, and relieve chronic pain from conditions like arthritis. For those needing support while sitting up to eat, read, or watch television, the bed can be raised to a comfortable seated position, helping maintain a sense of control over daily routines.

Profile beds also improve caregiving efficiency. The height adjustment feature allows caregivers to assist clients without straining their backs, enhancing the quality of care. At SilverBirch Healthcare, our trained carers support clients using profile beds, ensuring safe and comfortable positioning. These beds are invaluable for elderly individuals and those who care for them, improving comfort, mobility, and safety.

Rise Recliner

A rise recliner chair is a supportive piece of furniture that significantly enhances the quality of life for elderly individuals or those with mobility challenges. These chairs feature a motorized mechanism that assists users in transitioning smoothly from sitting to standing. For individuals with joint pain, muscle weakness, or balance issues, rise recliners reduce the effort needed to stand, promoting safety and lowering the risk of falls. This support simplifies daily activities like sitting for meals or moving around the home.

The recliner function provides additional comfort, allowing users to find their ideal position for relaxation. Whether sitting upright, reclining to watch television, or lying flat for a nap, the adjustable settings cater to individual needs. This is especially beneficial for those with conditions like arthritis or back pain, as the chair offers ergonomic support and improves circulation. Rise recliners come in various sizes and styles to match different needs and home décor.

At SilverBirch Healthcare, we recognize the benefits of rise recliners and support their use for a comfortable, independent lifestyle. Our carers assist with positioning to ensure safe and effective use. Rise recliners enhance physical comfort and contribute to emotional well-being by helping individuals maintain independence and engage confidently in daily routines. Whether reading, socializing, or relaxing at home, a rise recliner is a valuable addition.

Day Trips

Day trips keep elderly individuals active, engaged, and in good spirits. At SilverBirch Healthcare, we understand that social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation promote overall well-being. Whether visiting a local day centre for companionship, shopping for retail therapy, or enjoying a peaceful walk in nature, these outings provide a refreshing change of scenery and a chance to connect with the outside world.

Day centres offer opportunities for socializing, group activities, and a sense of community. Clients can engage in crafts, games, or simply chat over tea, reducing feelings of isolation and creating joyful memories. Shopping trips to local high streets allow clients to browse favorite stores, select personal items, and feel independent. Our trained carers ensure clients navigate these spaces safely and comfortably.

Nature walks provide physical activity and the calming benefits of fresh air. Whether strolling through a park or exploring a garden, these outings improve mood, reduce stress, and encourage gentle exercise. Our carers offer assistance and companionship, ensuring clients feel supported outdoors. These day trips enhance physical health and boost emotional well-being. At SilverBirch Healthcare, we are dedicated to helping clients live vibrant lives, with day trips playing a key role in achieving that goal.

Altered Diets

Altering diets is essential for maintaining health and well-being, whether the goal is to lose or gain weight. For elderly individuals or those receiving care, tailored dietary changes can significantly enhance quality of life by addressing specific health needs, boosting energy, and supporting mobility. At SilverBirch Healthcare, our carers assist clients with these adjustments, ensuring meals are nutritious, enjoyable, and easy to prepare.

For weight loss, the focus is on creating a balanced, calorie-controlled diet with nutrient-dense foods. This includes increasing fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins while reducing processed foods and sugary snacks. Strategies like portion control, healthier cooking methods (grilling or steaming), and adding fiber can make a significant difference. Regular hydration and gentle physical activity further support weight loss. Our carers help plan and prepare meals, monitor progress, and encourage clients on their journey to healthier living.

For those needing to gain weight, often due to reduced appetite or illness, the aim is to incorporate high-calorie, nutrient-rich foods. Weight gain can improve energy levels, support mobility, and reduce the risk of frailty. Strategies include adding butter or cream to meals and using calorie-dense drinks like Ensure. Offering small, frequent snacks like nuts, cheese, or avocado can help increase calorie intake without overwhelming clients. Our carers work closely with clients to prepare and serve these meals, helping them achieve their weight goals while enjoying a varied diet.

By tailoring diets to individual needs, SilverBirch Healthcare enables clients to reach their desired weight outcomes, enhancing mobility and overall health. Our team provides compassionate support to make these changes manageable and sustainable.
